Beneath the moons of Mars

This is my depiction of a warrior battling a Thark (one of the four-armed, green skinned, desert dwellers of the dead-sea bottoms of Barsoom [an alternate-dimensional version of our planet Mars]). These characters and the setting are inspired by the imaginative genius of the late, great Edgar Rice Burroughs (creator of Tarzan). I used a 2mm lead holder with an HB and 4B graphites, and a tortillian. I spent approximately ten hours on this. The drawing is actually larger than this, I have a small scanner and limited practice with it. I read this entire series (11 books--awesome escapist fiction) while I was in junior high school--circa. mid '70's. A movie (based upon the first novel A Princess of Mars--orig. titled, Under the Moons of Mars [serialized in pulp magazines]) has been planned and delayed for a few years now. I understand that, at one time, Robert Rodriguez was slated to direct, and later Jon Favreau.
